Honor with Books Goes Digital

ImageWhether you’re commemorating an anniversary or your child’s graduation, the UCI Libraries’ Honor with Books program pays lasting tribute to special people in your life and conveys your personal commitment to learning and knowledge. Recently, the Libraries updated the popular giving program by replacing the former paper bookplates with digital versions that can easily be viewed online.

Now, gifts made to Honor with Books are recognized with a graphic university seal bookplate placed on the online catalog record of a book in the subject area of the donor’s choosing. The digital bookplate bears the name of the donor and the person in whose honor the gift is made. Digital bookplates provide the opportunity to select both print books and electronic books for plating, and make it easier for donors to share their bookplate with family and friends.

A webpage describing the exciting new program and a list of the books plated is available here.

Honor with Books is a wonderful way to remember and celebrate graduations, birthdays, memorial tributes, weddings and anniversaries, professional honors and retirements, and much more
Honor with Books is a wonderful way to remember and celebrate graduations, birthdays, memorial tributes, weddings and anniversaries, professional honors and retirements, and much more, while making a statement about your belief in knowledge and learning.

While the form of recognition has changed, the main purpose of the program remains the same. Gifts to Honor with Books provide critical support for the acquisition of new print and electronic books, helping to enhance the Libraries' collections and advance UCI's excellence in teaching and research. As the cost of print and electronic materials continues to escalate, private support makes a considerable impact on the learning and research resources available to our students, faculty and lifelong learners.
