From Annual Gifts to Estate Gifts to Gifts in Kind--Donors Make a Difference!

Research libraries require many things to operate: diverse collections including books, journals, and archives, as well as knowledgeable research staff, computers, and study spaces.

What makes a truly exceptional research library are supporters committed to enhancing research collections, transforming spaces into 21st century learning centers, and making original and rare materials accessible for new discovery.

The UC Irvine Libraries are fortunate to have many such supporters. As University Librarian, I extend my personal thanks to everyone who has made a gift to the Libraries.

In this issue we recognize all of last year’s donors in our 2012-13 Honor Roll of Donors.

In addition, we highlight a number of very special gifts, each of which is significant in supporting the creation of new knowledge for the benefit of our students, scholars and community members.

There are many ways to support the Libraries as a critical resource for learning and discovery.

  • Gifts of cash and securities provide immediate assistance to enhance collections and transform spaces, or create endowments to perpetually support the important work of our faculty and students.

  • Estate gifts impact the work of future scholars and create a lasting legacy of support.

  • Gifts of personal collections and archival materials provide insights on historical events, new opportunities for discovery by scholars, and help preserve our cultural heritage and scholarship.

On behalf of the thousands of students, faculty, and community members we serve, thank you!

Warm Regards,
