The Libraries 10th Annual Student Employee Appreciation Picnic was held in Aldrich Park on May 15th. The event recognizes the important role of our student employees to the success of the Libraries. In addition to library student employees and staff, former student employee alumni and library retirees are invited back to campus to participate in the festivities.

This year's event had a Mardi Gras theme, and featured games and raffles of gift cards. Graduating students were recognized with a gift of a UCI Libraries backpack. Many students exclaimed, "This picnic shows us that the Libraries really appreciate us!" University Librarian Lorelei Tanji thanked the students for their hard work and dedication and for helping create a 21st Century Research Library at UCI for students, faculty and community members.

"This picnic shows us that the Libraries really appreciate us!"

Former library employee and alumnus Jeremy Lee attended the event. "It was an honor being able to attend the past couple student appreciation picnics," said Jeremy. "As an alumnus, it's great to see what's been happening at UCI and I feel appreciated being welcomed back to partake in this event. I'm glad I was able to contribute in the short time I did at the Science Library. I'll never forget my experiences at UCI, both as a student and as a library student employee."
