An Evening with Author Lisa See

Julie Sully, Richard Hearn, and Lisa See at fundraising event

On February 8th, a benefit event featuring author Lisa See raised over $15,000 for Literary Orange, Orange County's premier author festival. The event, held at Bayside Restaurant in Newport Beach, was generously hosted by Richard Hearn of Starcare Associates Inc. in Newport Beach.

See gave a captivating talk about her family background and her journey as a writer and internationally acclaimed best-selling author. She is the author of many novels including Shanghai Girls, Peony in Love, and Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, which has been made into a movie due for release this summer. She is currently working on a new novel, Dreams of Joy, which will be released at the end of May, 2011.

"I met Lisa at the first Literary Orange event in 2006 and have become a huge fan of both the author and the event ever since," said Hearn. "Lisa is a fascinating person whose books have enchanted millions. Literary Orange is a wonderful community event that brings authors and readers together. It was my pleasure to raise support and awareness of this fantastic event. I encourage everyone to attend Literary Orange!"

Co-presented by the UCI Libraries and OC Public Libraries, Literary Orange is a premier author event that brings authors and book-lovers together to celebrate reading in all its guises. This year's event will be held Saturday, April 9th, from 8-5 pm, at the UCI Student Center. Please go to www.literaryorange.org for more information and to register, or call 949.824.4651.
