UCI Libraries to Present Literary Orange

Spring Exhibit on Vietnam Highlanders Opens on May 15th

- Mother-daughter authors Carolyn and Lisa See to serve as keynote speakers

The Libraries are partnering with the Orange County Public Library to present Literary Orange on Saturday, April 21, 2007, at the Hyatt Regency Orange County in Garden Grove. The all-day affair will feature keynote speeches, breakout panel discussions with noteworthy authors from all genres, a luncheon, and a closing reception. The event is expected to attract over 500 attendees.

"We are thrilled to have the support of the UCI Libraries on this very special event for the people of Orange County," said Assistant County Librarian Helen Fried. "The event celebrates the unique relationship between authors, readers and our libraries by giving community members the opportunity to meet and interact with new and favorite authors. It also enhances our culture of literacy by deepening the community's appreciation of reading and literature."

Mother-daughter authors Carolyn and Lisa See will serve as morning keynote speakers. "Lisa and I will have a wonderful time helping to pick your Literary Orange!" said Carolyn See. "It's a particular source of joy to me to come and see all the marvelous reading groups all over Southern California, and we have friends and relatives in Orange County - many of them. It will be like a family event!"

Carolyn See is the well-known author of nine books, including her most recent best-selling novel, There will Never be Another You. Her daughter, Lisa See, is the author of six books, including the best-selling novel, Snow Flower and the Secret Fan. Popular authors Aimee Liu and Thomas Perry will also give keynote speeches.
