Park Min-Gyu Book Talk, June 5, 2017 from 5:00-6:30 pm in the Roger C. Holden Faculty and Graduate Student Reading Room at Langson Library

The UCI Libraries in partnership with the UCI Center for Critical Korean Studies, UCI Global Engagement and Literature Translation Institute in Korea present a book talk with author Park Min-Gyu. Born in South Korea in 1968, Park Min-Gyu debuted in 2003. As a writer, his writing style was so new, it sent shockwaves through the Korean literary world. The event will feature a reception, program and signing by the author.

Walter Stahr Book Talk, August 9, 2017 from 12:00-1:30 pm in the Roger C. Holden Faculty and Graduate Student Reading Room at Langson Library

Walter Stahr, award-winning author of the New York Times bestseller "Seward", will discuss his latest book "Stanton: Lincoln's War Secretary." Of the crucial men close to President Lincoln, Secretary of War Edwin Stanton (1814-1869) was the most powerful and controversial. Stanton raised, armed, and supervised the army of a million men who won the Civil War. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session, book sales and signing by the author. Lunch will be served and seating is limited.

First Folio Fridays, August 11 & August 25, 2017 from 12:00-1:30 pm in the Caroline A. Laudati Conference Room & Special Collections & Archives Reading Room at Langson Library

Noontime seminars at the Langson Library begin with a short lecture and end in Special Collections with a viewing of UCI's copy of Shakespeare's First Folio and other Shakespeariana. Seminars are led by Julia Lupton (English) and UCI Libraries staff. This year we are happy to welcome back Andrea Mays, author of "The Millionaire and the Bard, The Definitive Biography of Henry Folger", the founder of the Folger Shakespeare Library on August 25th. This event is co-sponsored by the Libraries, UCI School of Humanities and the New Swan Shakespeare Festival.
