Igniting Innovation Exhibit opens on May 21

ImageThe UCI Libraries are pleased to announce the opening of an exciting new exhibit called Igniting Innovation: UCI Knowledge at Work, on Tuesday, May 2

Industries rely on innovation, fostering competition for new products and services that shape our world. Igniting Innovation will highlight many of the pioneering ideas developed at UCI that were or currently are being turned into commercial products, particularly in the areas of education, medicine, applied information technology, and environmental technologies.

Our guest speaker will be John Hemminger, UCI Vice Chancellor for Research, former Dean of the School of Physical Sciences, and a nationally recognized Professor of Chemistry. As Vice Chancellor, Hemminger oversees $300 million annually in research contracts and grants, and distributes key seed money to promising new research areas.

ImageThe exhibit will showcase the research process that leads to ground-breaking ideas and the Libraries' role in nurturing new knowledge, while also exploring the university-industry partnerships that facilitate technology transfer, patent licensing, and entrepreneurial relationships. We will provide examples of how UCI educates and leads on the newest approaches to strategic innovation and entrepreneurship.

A light reception and exhibit viewing will follow the presentation. The event is free and open to the public. Space is limited; reservations are first come, first served. Please visit https://partners.lib.uci.edu/creativity-innovation to make an online reservation. For further information please call 949.824.4651 or email partners@uci.edu.

Igniting Innovation: UCI Knowledge at Work will be on display through October 2013 in the Langson Library Muriel Ansley Reynolds Gallery during regular library hours.
