Mark your calendars now! Literary Orange, one of Orange County’s premier author gatherings, will move to the UCI campus for the third annual event on Saturday, April 4, 2009. Established in 2007, and co-sponsored by the UCI Libraries and the Orange County Public Library, Literary Orange has quickly grown in size and stature. With the move to the recently renovated UCI Student Center in 2009, the event is expected to draw in excess of 500 readers and authors for an exciting all-day event featuring keynote speakers, author panels, and a sit-down luncheon.

			Literary Orange 2009 will feature writer, performer, and commentator Sandra Tsing Loh, and best-selling author and Emmy award-winning writer/producer Stephen Cannell as keynote speakers.

Literary Orange brings people together to enhance our culture of literacy, deepen our community’s appreciation of reading, and to celebrate the unique relationship among authors, readers, and their libraries. The 2008 event featured keynote speakers Janet Fitch and Elizabeth George, along with a host of highly talented and diverse authors of all genres.

At Literary Orange, avid readers and aspiring writers interact with award-winning authors, have their books signed, ask their favorite authors questions, and learn more about the writing and publishing processes.

“Going to Literary Orange was very much a learning experience about reading,” said Elizabeth Stahr, a long-time library and campus friend. “The authors talked about point of view, development of character, why they rewrote books, the beauty of the English language, and sentence structure. It was a great day and I will return next year!”
