Salinger Family Library Endowed Fund

The Salinger Family Library Endowed Fund was established by Irene Saltern Salinger in 2004 as a tribute to her family and to demonstrate her strong belief in the value of learning and research for the benefit of society.  The  Salinger Fund supports the Libraries’ general research collections, with a special focus on the acquisition of materials in the areas of eye research and world peace, two subjects of particular interest to Irene and her family.

Before her passing in 2005, Mrs. Salinger lived in Newport Beach and actively supported a variety of philanthropies from the field of medicine to the arts, both at UCI and in the community. She emigrated to the United States from Berlin and had a long and distinguished career as a fashion designer.
